A LIFE IN JAZZ
Born in 2000, Nestor Vassilakis has been performing internationally since 2016 — a saxophonist and composer rooted in the New York jazz tradition. He has played major stages including the United Nations Jazz Democracy Forum, Harvard's Centre for Hellenic Studies, the Jazzy Colors Festival in Paris, the Rhodes & South Aegean International Jazz Festival, and the Athens Concert Hall — sharing workshops and stages along the way with David Liebman, Gilad Atzmon, Andy Sheppard, and Craig Bailey.
Between 2023 and 2025, he performed with Rick Simpson’s trio at London’s Vortex Jazz Club, with Dave Kikoski and Essiet Essiet at New York’s Nublu Jazz Festival, and brought his quartet to the EFG London Jazz Festival. In 2025, alongside his father Dimitrios Vassilakis, he toured Greece for the Father & Son project — from the Goulandri Museum in Athens to the Roman Agora in Delphi. Through original compositions and jazz standards, the Nestor Vasilakis Band brings the intensity and passion of the New York mainstream sound to every performance.
